Traditional Thai massage differs from many Western-style massage treatments in both technique and experience.
Thai massage commonly involves assisted stretching, rhythmic pressure, body movement, and acupressure techniques designed to support flexibility, mobility, relaxation, and muscular comfort. Treatments are often more interactive than a traditional relaxation massage.
At TEAL Authentic Thai Massage, treatments are adapted to the individual customer’s comfort level and preferences where possible.

No. At TEAL Authentic Thai Massage, treatments are provided on an individual basis rather than as couples massages.
Traditional Thai massage is highly personalised and tailored to each customer’s individual needs, comfort level, and physical condition. Providing individual sessions allows the therapist to give their full attention to each customer and deliver the most effective treatment possible without distraction. It also helps maintain the calm, quiet, and meditative environment that many customers value during Thai massage.
Couples massages can be considered a Western marketing construct - Individual appointments are considered more consistent with authentic traditional Thai massage practice and generally provide a better overall therapeutic experience.
Your first Thai massage session is designed to be relaxing, comfortable, and tailored to your individual needs.
Before your treatment begins, you may be asked a few simple questions about your general wellbeing, areas of tension, pressure preferences, injuries, or any medical conditions that may affect your treatment.
During the massage, your therapist may use a combination of rhythmic pressure, stretching, assisted movement, and traditional Thai massage techniques designed to support relaxation, flexibility, and muscular comfort.
Some treatments may involve gentle stretching and movement of the body. Please advise your therapist at any time if you experience discomfort or would like the pressure adjusted.
For your comfort:
Wear loose, comfortable clothing where appropriate
Arrive a few minutes early for your appointment
Avoid heavy meals immediately before your treatment
Stay hydrated after your massage
Many customers feel deeply relaxed after a Thai massage, while others may feel energised or notice temporary muscular tenderness similar to post-exercise soreness. Experiences can vary between individuals.

Your comfort and wellbeing are very important during every treatment.
While some Thai massage techniques involve stretching and pressure work, the massage should never feel unsafe or overwhelming.
Please tell your therapist immediately if you experience pain, discomfort, numbness, dizziness, or if any technique feels too intense. Treatments can be adjusted at any time to suit your comfort level, pressure preference, flexibility, and individual needs.
Every person’s body is different, and communication during your treatment is encouraged to ensure a safe and positive experience.
